UGLY SWEATER NIGHT

Once again, the Lifestyles Center brought many people together creating a beautiful social experience. From 7pm-10pm on Thursday November 29, 2012 the annual Open Mic Night Ugly Sweater event took place at the Café in Penfield Library. Along with free coffee, cheese, and crackers, there was an opportunity to take pictures for free with fun green screen backgrounds! There was even an appearance from “Monster” representatives. They handed out free Monster energy drinks to people who took pictures wearing their ugly sweater. Some of the sweaters were so ugly that they somehow carried a gleam of beauty!

People all over the room were able to connect to each other as everyone vibed to the many musical performances, poetry, and even stand-up comedy. Watching so many people get together just hang out coloring, making bracelets, or even just lounging was lovely. Art and expression is vital to the growth of the soul, and what a more lovely way to feed oneself both literally and metaphorically through the Open Mic Night Ugly Sweater event? Many people proudly exposed their ugly sweaters. Many of the sweaters were festive oriented and some of the sweaters were so ugly that they somehow carried a gleam of beauty. Thanks to the Lifestyles Center, the annual Ugly Sweater Open Mic Night was a huge success, bringing the feel of home away from home.
