WEEKEND PREVIEW: MY FIRST WEEKEND AT OZ

There are a lot of different activities that go on in the first few weeks of class. Be aware of the many activities/events happening on your hall and/or on-campus. In addition to those, below we’ve included a variety of other outside activities and places that you can find. Besides being super fun, the best way to get to know people is by running around to a bunch of new places and experiencing different things. Get out there!

 

Lighthouse lanes

Where: 295 E Albany St, Oswego, NY

When: Friday-Sunday 10AM-2AM ; Sunday 12PM-9PM

Description: Lighthouse Lanes has become one of the most popular bowling locations in the Central New York area. This is a perfect place to have fun with friends. The price until September 4th is $1.99 per game (not including shoes). Don’t miss out and take advantage of this price!

 

Canale’s Restaurant

Where: 156 West Utica Street Oswego, NY. 13126

When: Friday-Saturday 4:30PM – 10PM; Sunday 4PM- 9PM

Description: Craving some Italian food? Canales is the perfect place for you. They have some of the most delicious foods around. Canales will provide you with the most efficient and friendly service.

 

Bev’s Dairy Treat

Where: 60 Co Route 89, Oswego, NY

Hours of Operation: Monday-Sunday 12PM-9PM

Description: Get some of the best ice cream ever at this local establishment. There are Picnic tables right on the edge of the lake. Feel free to go on a walk on the rocks while enjoying your ice cream. This area has some great views of our beautiful sunset with such a delightful breeze!

 

Rudy’s Lakeside Drive-In

Where: 78 Co Rte 89, Oswego, NY

Hours of Operation: Wednesday-Sunday 9AM-10PM

Description: Craving some burgers and fried seafood? Then, this is the perfect place for you! Rudy’s is one of the most popular places in the area (right next to Bev’s), it also has picnic tables along the lake to enjoy your food. Don’t miss out and stop by!

 

Breitbeck Park

Where: Between W. 8th and Ontario Streets, Oswego, NY

Hours of Operation: It’s a park, so technically there are no hours. But, if you’re going to go there at night; please be respectful.

Description: Breitbeck Park is a nice place for a walk either with friends or alone. Like most of the other places in SUNY Oswego, it also provides you with an amazing view of Lake Ontario. It was constructed after World War II and has 15 acres to explore. You can also find a great view of the lighthouse in the harbor!
