WEEKEND PREVIEW: SEPT 9TH – SEPT 11TH

Friday, Sept. 9th –

  • Art Exhibition: “Urban Beat: Recent Works in Encaustic and Oil” – 8am-4:30pm at the SUNY Oswego Metro Centro Description: Exhibit by Linda Bigness, a frequent exhibitor who has displayed her paintings in galleries internationally.   • Art Exhibit: “New Works and Reinventions” -10am – 5pm at Oswego State Downtown (186 W 1st St, Oswego, NY 13126) Description: New Works and Reinventions by Jacqueline Adamo. Part of SUNY Oswego’s Downtown Artist Series. Free. 315-216-4985.
  • Open skate:  12pm – 2pm at Marano Campus Center Arena.  Description: $3 (free for SUNY Oswego students, faculty and staff with ID). $3 for skate rental. Skate sharpening available for $7 in the Skate Shop. Parking for those without SUNY Oswego parking sticker is $1 — see oswego.edu/administration/parking. 315-312-2578.
  • Central Winds Concert – 7:30pm – 8:30pm at Waterman Theatre, Tyler Hall
    Description: Fifty-piece ensemble composed of music educators from across Central New York. This concert features SUNY Oswego faculty members Rob Auler and Trevor Jorgensen as piano and saxophone soloists for Stravinsky and Dahl concertos, plus a new work by their faculty colleague, Paul Leary. Part of SUNY Oswego’s Artswego Performing Arts Series. $15 ($5 for SUNY Oswego students), including parking in the Culkin Hall lot.

Saturday, Sept. 10th –

Sunday, Sept 11th –

  • Oswego State Lakers Futures Clinic – 8:30am – 4:00pm at Laker Field. Description: Open for interested prospective student athletes in grades 9 to 12.   • Planetarium show: “The Autumn Constellations” –7pm – 8pm in room 223, Shineman Center. Description:SUNY Oswego physics professor John Zielinski will give a brief survey of six constellations: Cassiopeia, Cepheus, Andromeda, Perseus, Pegasus, and Cetus. Telescope viewing to follow, weather permitting. Limited seating: first-come, first-served. Children 17 and under must be accompanied by an adult. Free, including parking in the Centennial Drive lot (E17) or Washington Boulevard lot (C8).
